Forum Hyperlinks Always Open in Same Window

Postby jimh » Sun Dec 20, 2015 10:33 am

Within the forum postings, any hyperlinked text will create a hyperlink that will open in the same window, that is, the linked page will replace the one with the hyperlink. This behavior can be confusing sometimes. If you want to open a hyperlink found in the forum in a separate window, you must invoke that option on your browser. This is usually done by combining the mouse button click with another key, such as the CTL (Control) of OPT (Option) key.

Jim,

Doesn't the forum software have a feature to allow opening in a new tab or window?
My preference is to open hyperlinks in a new tab.
Thanks,
Duane

No, the forum does not "have a feature to allow opening [of hyperlink targets] in a new tab or window." See the initial article in this thread for the method to implement your preference. It must be implemented in your browser and your clicking action on the hyperlink. Hyperlinks in the forum will open in the same window, unless you modify that action with your browser and method of clicking on the hyperlink.
