ICON Touch 4.3 and NAUTILUS 3.5 Gauges: No Engine Data

Postby Sigfritaly » Thu Mar 09, 2023 2:26 pm

Good evening everyone. I introduce myself, I am Siegfried and I am writing to you from Marsala, Sicily (Italy).

I have an Evinrude E-TEC G2 300-HP engine with two instruments: a NAUTILUS 3.5 inch display, and an ICON Touch 4.3-inch display. Both instruments often do not give any engine data readings. Nor do they report any error alerts.

Please give me an idea on what to check.

The cause of the problem has been found: a faulty connector [in the NMEA-2000 network wiring that looks like a terminator].

Thanks for the follow-up on the solution to your problem of loss of all data on the two engine displays. Typically if multiple display devices cannot display data that should be available on the NMEA-2000 network, the problem is either due to the device that is sending that data (in this case a modern engine with NMEA-2000 capability), or with the network wiring itself.

The component seen above (in Figure 1) looks like it is a terminator for the network. Without proper network termination the electrical signals on the network may not be properly transmitted or received.
