ICON Pro RPM Gauge: Help in Configuration

ICON Pro RPM Gauge

Default Screens

The ICON Pro RPM gauge always shows the engine speed on the dial pointer indicator, but the LCD screen on the lower half of the gauge can be configured to show any data desired, using up to 18-pages of displays. The displays can be set to auto-scroll through the total number of pages configured. The duration of the display period in the auto-scroll can be set to a desired interval.

If you take an ICON Pro RPM gauge out of the box and install it on your boat, it will be configured with the factory default settings for the data to be shown on the LCD screen. If your gauge was installed by a dealer, the dealer may have already altered the default settings. The settings for the LCD display can be easily re-configured to suit the individual boat and its operator.

The ICON Pro RPM gauge in its factory setting is configured for the LCD screen to display eight pages with auto-scroll with a 30-second period. The default settings for the eight pages are as follows (with the units set for US):

No. -- Value -- Explanation -- Unit

#1 -- RPM --Engine crankshaft rotation speed -- (RPM)
#2 -- FUEL FLOW --Engine fuel flow -- (GPH)
#3 -- ENGINE TEMP --Engine temperature -- (°F)
#4 -- WTR PRESS -- Engine water pressure-- (PSI)
#5 -- TRIM -- Engine trim position -- (Ruler scale)
#6 -- GPS SPEED -- Boat speed over ground from external receiver -- (MPH)
#7 -- BATTERY 1 -- Battery voltage, from engine-1 data -- (V)
#8 -- OIL LEVEL -- Oil tank level from accessory sensor -- (%)

If your boat does not have the accessory water pressure sensor for the E-TEC or the accessory oil tank level sender for the oil reservoir, there will be no data for the WTR PRESS or OIL LEVEL pages. If you do not have a GPS receiver on the network reporting speed over ground, there will be no GPS SPEED data available.

The values of the TRIM and OIL LEVEL can be set to show as either a ruler scale or as a percentage. To change between ruler scale and percentage, see the section under the heading TRIM Display Shown as Percentage in the ICON gauge overview article

The available data that can be displayed is chosen from a list. The list is arranged in alphabetical order.

For more information on how to change the number of pages and how to configure individual pages for particular data, refer to the ICON Pro Gauge User Guide. You should have received a copy of the ICON Pro Gauge User Guide with each ICON gauge you purchased. If your dealer installed the gauges, the dealer should have provided you with a copy.

I give an example of how to change the display setting in another article. See
