I-Command Gauges and Literature

Postby jimh » Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:23 pm

Evinrude has used the branding of I-Command with two distinctly different types of NMEA-2000 gauges.

An early and lesser-known variation of I-Command gauges were sold in c.2005 and were dial pointer gauges with an LCD display and three input buttons for user control. These were later called I-Command Classic gauges.

The best known I-Command gauges are adapted Lowrance LMF-400 and LMF-200 gauges with LCD displays with 1-bit or black-white graphics, and these were sometimes referred to as the "I-Command Digital" gauges to distinguish them from the earlier I-Command Classic gauges.

Both I-Command Digital and I-Command Classic series are now obsolete.

I have archived literature about these older gauges.

A 2005 rigging guide showing I-Command Classic gauges is a four-page document. See http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/NMEA2000/I-Command.pdf

A 2005 installation and rigging guide showing I-Command Classic gauges is a 50-page document. See

The newer and more common I-Command Digital gauges that are essentially identical to Lowrance LMF-400 and LMF-200 gauges differ only in having special firmware loaded on them that can provide special functions useful with E-TEC engines. I also have archived literature about these I-Command gauges.

A 2008 Supplement is a 16-page document that shows many products and block diagrams of rigging.

A 2008 I-Command Installation guide is a 50-page document that shows both older and newer style I-Command gauges.

A 2008 I-Command Three-in-one User's Guide is a 112-page comprehensive document with installation guide, basic operating guide, and extensive tutorials on creating custom display pages and other modifications to the default display configuration for the I-Command Digital gauges.

And a 2010 I-Command Digital Network Guide is a 40-page document that shows only the Lowrance LMF style I-Command Digital gauges and only the modern NMEA-2000 DeviceNET Micro connector rigging.

Links to these documents have been posted in the REFERENCE section index page for many years, but I am adding this article to this forum to inform readers here of these resources.
