SURVEY POLL: VHF Marine Band Fixed-mount Radios

Postby jimh » Fri Nov 08, 2019 10:17 am

Please participate in the the above poll or survey if you have a VHF Marine Band fixed-mount radio on your boat. If you have more than one VHF radio, respond by indicating the capabilities of the best radio.

If you are not sure of the status of the DSC capabilities of your radio, all VHF Marine Band radios manufactured, imported, sold, or installed after March 25, 2011 must be CLASS-D radios.

A user can only vote once in the poll. After you have voted you will just see the current vote tally in the poll; you won't be presented with an option to vote.

You cast a vote by clicking on the radio button associated with your choice of response and then clicking SUBMIT.

The results of the survey (which was active for one year) are surprising to me. The most common installation of a VHF Marine Band radio reported is the instance of a DSC radio with an AIS receiver. And an overwhelming majority of survey participants, 91-percent, reported having a DSC radio on their boat, with 70-percent having a CLASS-D DSC radio. This indicates a very high rate of installation of modern DSC radios among the survey participants. My thanks to all who participated in the survey.
