RAYMARINE AXIOM Pro shows AIS Target as String of Diamonds

I have a Raymarine Axiom Pro receiving AIS data from an Icom M510 via NMEA 2000. The target data shows the ship icon, ship name, ship MMSI, but it also shows a long string of small black diamonds with a question mark in them. If I touch the diamond icon, a window appears with more data about target.
Q1; what is this black diamond chain?
Q2: how can I get rid of it?

I presume your display presentation looks something like this:

The remedy for the display of AIS targets as a string of black diamonds on a RAYMARINE display is a firmware update.
