Source for OEM replacement 1993 OUTRAGE 21 Bow Pulpit

Q1: where can I purchase a new or a used OEM bow pulpit for a 1993 OUTRAGE 21?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Q2: are you asking for the molded fiberglass pulpit?

Q3: or are you asking for the bow railing that would be associated with the bow pulpit.

I doubt that there are any retailers or vendors who would have either the bow pulpit molded assembly or the bow railing assembly for your 31-year-old boat sitting in their inventory as either a new, unused part or as a used part.

If you happen to get to south Florida there are some used boat part retailers that have accumulated all sorts of odd and ends from production boats in their inventory, and there might be the chance (slim chance) that sitting in their yards you could find what you are looking for.

If you are asking about the molded fiberglass pulpit, you could probably make a replacement from wood.

If you are asking about the railings, you have two possible options:

• have a new railing fabricated to your specifications by a marine artisan or company that makes custom railings, or
• purchase an existing railing from some other boat that is generally the same size and shape, then have an artisan and good stainless steel welder bend the top railing to the desired shape, cut off the stanchions to necessary length. and weld onto them circular base plates as appropriate. That the stanchions and their bases will be in the exact same locations as the OEM railing is very unlikely, so you will then hire a fiberglass-gelcoat specialist to fill in, cover, and blend in the existing mounting locations into the foredeck area, including casting into those repairs the non-skid pattern that Boston Whaler used.

I know for a fact that the second option I mention above (adapting an existing railing) can work because I have seen it done.

I think you will have better luck fabricating a bow pulpit out of wood. You can use the Revenge/Outrage 25 bow pulpits for reference.

I just so happen to have a measured drawing. Not sure how/why I have it.

[Updated] I suspect that the drawing from Larry was for his classic-era OUTRAGE 25, I don't recall the model year but it was certainly NOT 1993.

However, the general shape and dimensions of the OUTRAGE 25 wood pulpit may be useful for making one for a 1993 OUTRAGE 21. The wood bow pulpit was often an optional item on classic era Boston Whaler OUTRAGE models.

Around c.1990 Boston Whaler began to stop using high-value teak lumber on their boats for components like gunwales and bow pulpits, and used molded fiberglass assemblies to replace the wood. For a while the teak wood remained an (added cost) option.

My 1990 REVENGE has molded gunwales and a molded bow pulpit. For that reason by 1993 I would expect that an OUTRAGE 21 would NOT have come standard with a wood bow pulpit and wood gunwales. On the other hand, my 1990 REVENGE 22 W-T WD has very nice teak hatches and a companionway door.

The drawn pulpit is about 17 x 30 x 1.5 inches. I assume it is a laminated piece as finding a solid piece of teak in that dimension would be difficult and expensive and generate a lot of waste.

Without any reply from the originator of this discussion to initial questions, we still have no idea if the sought component is the railing or the actual pulpit. Perhaps the originator can soon return to the discussion that has been started to clarify his inquiry.
