Outrage 18/19 Mooring Cover

Postby george nagy » Wed Aug 10, 2016 3:47 pm

I'm thinking of getting a mooring cover for the outrage to cover the entire boat instead of just the console and pilot seats but I store the boat on davits which will interfere with the cover. Does anyone have a picture of an Outrage covered with the Mills cover? Does anyone know if the stern internal lifting eyes will be accessible with the mills cover as is or will the cover need to be altered to allow for the lifting cables? Has anyone had Mills adjust their design to accommodate lifting the boat on davits? I would like to know customer experience before ordering.

thanks!

By using a "strong back" with your davits it would be possible to use the external lifting eyes to suspend your Outrage. That would also allow you to remove and install the cover while the Outrage is suspended.

Thanks butch, but I think if you are suggesting I use the outer front lifting eye that wouldn't be the way to go for me. I currently use spectra braid bridle in a triangular shape on the stern which is looped through the lifting eyes to a single d ring shackle which stays on the boat permanently while underway. Due to wake conditions I need to make quick hookups and get the boat up as fast as possible at times. I use to use a spectra braid snubbed on the boy lifting eye but after pulling it up through the pull and jamming it I stopped however, I may make a smaller one to eliminate the possibility of the ball smacking the deck.

I think the cover could be altered to have a fly if you will to go around the front cable much like a Christmas tree skirt. I remember lhg had his mooring cover altered to fit his radar arches but don't remember if mills did that for him.

Couldn't you use the external tow eyes on the transom instead of the internal ones and together with the bow eye you could circumvent having to have holes in your standard mooring cover.
