The Brunswick corporation's presentation to investors can be viewed on line at

A quick browse through the many slides and transcript produced several interesting announcements.
Perhaps the most interesting for continuousWave readers: Boston Whaler will introduce a new "flagship" model in 2027, a model 460, but the family (CONQUEST, VENTURA, OUTRAGE) is not disclosed.
Next, Mercury Marine currently says it has FIVE new mid-to-high-power outboard engine models in development, and four of those will launch in 2027 and 2028.
And perhaps the one claim to impress investors that made me chuckle, and this is right off the caption on a slide:
"Every [Mercury] engine sold starts a long-term, high-margin parts annuity."
This is the sort of boast that normally a manufacturer would never use on a customer to lure them to their product. It is perhaps the antithesis of the Japanese product philosophy of using the best possible parts that seldom if ever need replacement. That was the path Yamaha took when it entered the outboard engine market, and still retains today, with even long-interval replacement times on wear parts.
And regarding engine parts, there are three tiers, original Mercury parts, aftermarket Quicksilver parts (that can be sold by non-Mercury retailers), and SeaChoice, low-cost generic or no-brand parts. There is also the claim that Brunswick captures 90-percent of all engine part purchases by Mercury engine owners.
The presentation also includes a great new term invented by the marketing people: the premiumization of the U.S. new boat market: that means continually building larger, more complex, much more expensive boats that appeal to smaller and smaller numbers of potential customers due to extraordinary high cost (enabling extraordinary high profit).
And another ominous strategic move: "Rationalizing participation in softer value fiberglass [boat] segments..." Would that be like a 170 MONTAUK?
Also something completely news to me: Brunswick have invented and launched a new "premium" boat brand: NAVAN. These "adventure" boats are being manufactured at Merritt Island, Florida--perhaps at the former SeaRay plant there. Brunswick investors are told "Navan [is] built on Sea Ray's manufacturing [and] dealer network."
