The original cooler was a 72-quart model.

The Igloo Marine 90-quart cooler will fit.

It is hard to say for certain just how the cleats are located on your particular MONTAUK boat. I recommend you measure the cleats and measure a cooler before you buy one.

While the original Igloo Marine 86-quart cooler is not available, the current 94-quart model is what you are looking for. It has the same width and length. The lid is taller, hence the volume increase.

If you have rod holder cushions, install the new cooler with the hinges facing forward so that opening the lid clears the cushions. Try it both ways to learn the difference.

Might also want to check out an RTIC 65 quart cooler if looking for higher quality and better insulation.

I have a 1987 Boston whaler Montauk and my cooler was cracked and needed to be replaced. I wanted a larger cooler but did not want to reposition the cooler cleats so I built an adapter plate from plywood that I placed on top of the cleats. I will check the size of the cooler I now use when can get to the boat this weekend. The adapter plate helps spread the load and stress on the bottom of the cooler from people sitting on the cooler. I also enjoy the extra storage this larger cooler has.

The cooler that I built an adapter plate for is a Coleman 100 qt Offshore pro
