The Benicia, CA Fire Department is asking for your help in finding a 22'-25' Whaler Outrage, Dauntless or Guardian as a donation or at a give-away price for the Benicia California Fire Department.
They have a 16’ Wing RIB they use to cover their area which includes the Carquines Strait, San Pablo Bay and Grizzly Bay. Very treacherous waters. There are many Small Craft Advisories issued for these water during the year. There are high winds, strong currents of the river compounded by the ebbing of the tides that affect this area. During the last Advisory a young man was thrown into the water and was clinging to a bridge piling holding on for dear life. The Benicia FD rescue team went out in their 16’ and saved him just in time. During the rescue the water was so rough that the boat’s radar arch snapped!
They are in desperate need of a larger boat but have no funding for one. A Whaler would be the perfect boat for their operations. If you have one or know of someone that has one in good shape with a bad motor or no motor I would be interested in talking to you about getting it to these first responders for their safety and the safety of their rescued passengers.
