A conversation among Whalers

I have an Engel 35 (with padded seat) and an Engel 50 (with teak sticker pad on top). Either one will work in front of the console. I reverse the 35 so the hinge is forward and the lid opens away from the console. I had the 35 in front (strapped in) and the 50 in stern (unsecured) for a gentle lake cruise and it was plenty of seating. The cooler in front is secured to the stainless buckles that are spaced ~32" to hit the plywood in the hull. Considering tie downs for the rear cooler if usage justifies it at a later date, same spacing. Could go up to an Engel 80 or Engel 85 back there but the 50 full of ice and food is about as heavy as you can get into the boat at a trailered height.
