I am ready to purchase my first used Boston Whaler boat. I need some advice from experienced owners.

I will use the boat for river, lake, and bay fishing by myself, or with my wife, or with my fishing buddy. The boat will also be used to enjoy a day and relax, but no water sports. The boat mainly will be for two people.

I am considering a 1998 Dauntless 15 with a 1998 Evinrude, or a 1977 SPORT 15 that is just restored, has no bottom paint, and has a 1998 Johnson 70-HP.

The SPORT 15 is much faster and more fun. The DAUNTLESS 15 you can stand up in..They are totally different boats outside of length.

I had a 15 Dauntless, 1995 or so and it was not really suitable for Lake Erie, one of the places I used it. It was fine on the small lakes like Mosquito Creek Reservoir but when the big lake got a little choppy I had to come back in. I'm just mentioning this incase you plan to use it on a bigger body of water.

[Some model identified only as "boat"] is perfect for two people.

[Deleted new topic about the cost of buying "the boat" when purchased 16-years-ago and the topic of restoration of "the boat"--please start a new thread to discussion the restoration of "the boat" and when discussing "the boat" please identify it by model, length, and year--Moderator]
