By checking used boat pricing, I can sell my four-year-old 190 Montauk more than I paid for it--crazy.

Not all that crazy.

Being able to buy a Boston Whaler boat, use it for a few years, and sell it for more than you paid for it is not really rare. Boston Whaler boats hold their value very well. There is a constant upward movement on new boat prices with inflation. With new boats now in 2021 in very short supply due to unprecedented demand, a rise in used boat prices is not surprising.

As long as you keep a Boston Whaler boat in excellent condition, don't add really awful modifications or sub-standard accessories to it, have a desirable and in-demand model, and assuming the boat was bought at a price somewhat below MSRP, being able to sell the boat as a used boat for near the original price should not be extraordinary.

Consider a 170 MONTAUK. The boat was introduced in 2002 at $17,655 MSRP. In 2021 a new 170 MONTAUK II will cost close to $50,000. That 2002 boat could easily sell for more than $17,000.
