Who is the OEM for the white all-round lamp on the 2016 OUTRAGE boats [of unspecified model length]?

Can the lightbulb be replaced by an LED lightbulb?

I'm surprised the lamp is not available from any Boston Whaler dealer. Call a few.

Technically the light produced by a navigation lamp has to meet strict specifications for chromaticity and intensity, but in the case of a white light, the bulb should not be particularly critical for color. The intensity of light from small boat navigation lamps is intentionally limited so as not to be too bright as to be seen ten miles away. A replacement light bulb should match the original bulb’s intensity.

If you have a lamp that now uses an incandescent miniature lightbulb, you can usually find an LED replacement, unless the socket is very unusual.

ALWAYS give the model designator for the boat if you want advice specific to that model.

Because Brunswick owns ATTWOOD, I’ll wager that Boston Whaler would use ATTWOOD navigation lamps, to keep business in the corporate family.

That the OEM also offers the exact lamp as an Consumer-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product is not necessarily intrinsic.

The cost of a replacement bulb is only a few dollars at best, less online. They last a a decade or longer.

The cost of an LED bulb with the necessary resistor are up to $15. Not a cost effective modification.

I take my old bulbs to the chandlery and find a replacement.

Phil, I sorta disagree on the point about lasting decades. I have had my 210 Outrage since 2005. The first several years my bow navigation lamps suffered from two recurring problems. Festoon type bulbs burning out and the brass contacts would corrode enough to prevent good electrical contact. It wasn't so much the expense because these bulbs are in fact very cheap but the aggravation of finding out that they are not operating shortly before or during and evening excursion. Like many things in boating, time and money solved the problem. I purchased the appropriate LED festoon bulbs at West Marine and they were new to the market and expensive. I installed them in the Perko fixtures and soldered the ends to the brass clips. Seeing as they have lasted several years now with no failures, I recommend this solution to others.

The U.S. Coast Guard has a MARINE SAFETY ALERT regarding LED navigation lamps. See
