I am looking at 2008 21 Outrage with 200 HP Mercury, it is said to be a clean boat in good condition.

Should I have mechanic look at engine?

I could probably do a compression test on my own and drain lower end and run on muff.

Kindly advise how to evaluate outboard.

If the 200 HP engine is a Verado I would have it checked by a Certified Verado Technician at a Mercury dealer. The engine have been very reliable but a certified tech can print out the engine history which may have some valuable information.
