Prices for Used Boston Whaler Boats

Postby Phil T » Fri Aug 27, 2021 2:06 pm

The used Boston Whaler boat market is very tight with limited supplies. Prices are 1.5 to 2.0-times what they were pre-March 2020.

When I bought my Whaler 15 years ago it was a tight market, too. Whaler prices have always been high. This pandemic has everything screwed up. Not only Whalers, but used cars, outboards, everything. I just drove from NYC to Baltimore just to buy an over-priced, running, parts-motor.

When I was looking for my first Boston Whaler boat, you could buy a nice 13-footer for about $1,500 on a trailer, with a running engine. That was in c.1996. Of course, that was 25-years ago, and everything was less expensive then than now, with the exception perhaps of electronic devices.

Also, a used Boston Whaler boat in 1996 is now going to be 25-years older than it was then, but if the boat is extremely well cared for, it might still be an attractive buy, even at much higher price today than 25-years ago.

There are many new boaters right now. The real concern is how many of them will remain boaters in five years from now.
