New HONDA 115 to 150-HP Outboards with Electronic Shift and Throttle

Postby jimh » Tue Sep 21, 2021 8:53 am

HONDA has introduced three new outboard engine models, the BF150, BF135, and BF115, which now offer electronic remote shift and throttle controls. Use of electronic shift and throttle (EST) controls is becoming more common, particularly among high-horsepower engines. Honda's use in their 115 to 150-HP models brings EST controls to the lower-end of their “big" engine range.

Having been enjoying electronic shift and throttle remote controls on my own boat for many years, I think boaters will soon come to think of them as standard equipment on new outboard engines.

I don't see any specific model designator change to mark or distinguish these new models from prior BF115, BF135, and BF150 engines. Perhaps there will be more information coming and details of the specific model identifiers. The product was just shown at a European boat show.
