Whaler Central

Postby dpbcc » Mon Jan 10, 2022 11:01 am

What happened to the Whaler Central site? I've been trying to access it and all I get are "server not found" messages.

The owner, Joe Kriz has turned it off and "retired".

Bummer, I hate to see any Boston Whaler information go away.

I logged into Whaler Central on New Years Day and saw Joe’s retirement message. Now it is completely off-line. I joined this forum to continue access to knowledgeable classic Whaler owners.

It truly is a shame to lose all that information.

The internet way-back-machine often preserves content of website that are no longer on-line.

Almost all of the discussion based information and the reference information from the now-shutdown site was behind the membership firewall and is not accessible via webarchive.org

The same outcome occurred with VERADOCLUB. I don't think it was exactly planned, but all content was lost due to a disk crash. The website never returned.

I viewed the site just prior to it going dark. In my opinion, Joe probably got fed up with some of the ungrateful/disrespectful messages which had recently been posted.

I don't have first-hand information, but I believe there was some fundamental problem with the underlying software that ran the WHALERCENTRAL website, and, after considerable effort, the problem was not able to be resolved.
