You should read an article on the OUTRAGE 21 from when it was first introduced. I have reproduced an interesting article at
"Yachting" EYES A BOAT
OUTRAGE III
A versatile 21-footer evolved from the well known Whalerhttps://continuouswave.com/whaler/refer ... ABoat.htmlAs for a MONTAUK, the way prices are going lately, many less-than-20-year-old used 170 MONTAUK boats are selling for more than their original MSRP. When the 170 MONTAUK came out in 2002, it
was priced below the classic MONTAUK 17, and the new model's base price was $17,655. I very much doubt you could buy a used 170 MONTAUK right now for that price; the sellers will be asking much more.
Compare at:
2002 MONTAUK 170https://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/170Montauk/Used and rather old MONTAUK 17 boats vary in price. A huge influence on price is the engine on the transom. A old smokey, noisy, two-stroke-power-cycle engine on the transom and a rusty old trailer will reduce the price for a MONTAUK 17. A boat with a modern 90-HP that now costs $10,000 (if you can find one) will boost the used boat price significantly.
There was a time--maybe 10 or 15-years ago--when you could buy a nice MONTAUK 17 in the range of $10,000 to $15,000. Now those same boats, and those boats are now 10 or 15-years older, will probably sell for as much if not more than they did back then.
