A pressure washer is something to be very wary of with respect to Boston Whaler boats.

If not used properly a pressure washer can peel off the gel coat.

Consider a general household tip and a low pressure below 1,600-PSI.

Better yet, using a stiff brush and a bit of elbow grease is easier.

Start with Simple Green and a stiff boat brush.

For stubborn stains, StarBrite Deck Cleaner. Follow the directions.

For restoring the shine to gel coat, remove the oxidation with a buffer with a wool bonnet and 3M fiberglass restorer.

ASIDE: my Boston whaler boat looks good when it is clean.

Use of a pressure washer is an excellent way to force water into the gel coat and cause osmotic blistering, a very bad outcome.

There is really no dirt that lays atop the gel coat of a Boston Whaler boat that cannot be removed with a detergent an some mild abrasion with a 3M scrubbing pad. Oxidation can also be easily removed with that method, too.

I have had good results using Spray Nine and a stiff bristle brush.

I have used my pressure washer ( 2600 psi) on the deck, top of the gunwales, hull sides, and the hull bottom prior to winter storage for the last 22 years on my 1996 17 outrage II. I have experienced zero problems with my gel coat. The bottom is barrier coated and painted. All other areas are just waxed.
