1974 Sakonnet Capacity

Postby oliverweagle » Thu Apr 28, 2022 6:31 pm

I don't have the [1974 SAKONNET] boat with me and don't know if it has a passenger capacity plate or even if one was required back in 1974. I recently purchased this 1974 Sakonnet and am eager to supplement my scattered knowledge about my new classic Boston Whaler boat with the capacity specification.

Q1: where can I find the specified capacity for a 1974 SAKONNET?

ASIDE: about four hours ago I established my user name and password with the object of finding [the passenger capacity of a 1976 SAKONNET 16]. Four hours? Yes - I got immediately sidetracked by the wealth of information on this site and went for a leisurely cruise enjoying my numerous stops along the way. Wow! What a marvelous site. I look forward to many more visits, and, now I have found my way back from the rabbit hole, please help with an answer.

Visit the REFERENCE section at SPECIFICATIONS--All 9 to 31-feet Models:
https://continuouswave.com/whaler/refer ... tions.html

VIsit the REFERENCE section at 16/17-foot Hull

Rather than give you an answer, I thought it better to point you to more sources of information.

Thank you. I appreciate the subtle hint - as well as the "Teach a man to fish" approach. Well done.

The specified capacity is the maximum capacity stated by the manufacturer in compliance with the federal rating system for calculating a hull's capacity.

My 1974 MONTAUK 16 was built in October 1973. It has the capacity plate riveted inside.
