2001 220 DAUNTLESS: Shipping Boat and Trailer via Carrier Service

Postby padrefigure » Mon May 16, 2022 6:30 pm

I want to ship a 2001 220 Dauntless on its trailer. The load is be about 4,000 lbs and about 27-feet overall length. There is no fixed hardtop and the vertical height of the boat on its trailer will be about 80-inches.

Origin is Oxford, Georgia, and destination is Port O'Connor, Texas or alternately Austin, Texas. I have not contacted a boat transport company. I am looking for recommendations. My initial search turned up several firms with poor reviews.

[Give me advice regarding] shipping a boat using a carrier service.
[Give me a] recommendation for a carrier service to ship my boat.
[Tell me how much shipping a boat using a carrier service will] cost.

Don't skimp, plenty of fly by night outfits out there. It didn't end well for a friend of mine who's (new to him) boat was totaled when the hauler tried to navigate a narrow car toll lane at speed with a wide load in tow.... Take note of the reveiws, recommendations, accident and claims history of a carrier.

Let me know if you need more recommendation. I will ask a few veteran owners in the Gulf and Texas.

Jeff let me know that he has retired from the boat transport business. He recommended Smitty's Haulin' LLC. Does anyone have experience with this carrier?
