Maintaining a Boston Whaler Boat

Postby Seaman56 » Sun Jun 05, 2022 6:55 am

What regular maintenance should be done on a 1989 Outrage 22 Whaler Drive boat?

To learn about routine care for a Boston Whaler boat, read the owner's manual.

If you do not have a copy of the owner's manual, I have created an on-line HTML version of the Boston Whaler owner's manual for classic-era hulls.

See:

In general, you should avoid striking the hull into immovable objects, and if any gel coat or laminate surfaces are damaged, repair them immediately. Keep the boat clean and dry, and maintain the finish on all gelcoat surfaces with polish and wax; maintain all wood surfaces with cleaners, oils, or varnish. Protect the boat from exposure to sunlight when not in use with covers. Do not let rain accumulate in the sumps and cockpits. Follow the recommendations regarding the need for an epoxy sealing coat below the water line if the boat is to be left in the water for more than a few days. Follow the recommendations for application of anti-fouling paint if the boat is left is seawater for more than a few days and there is a known problem with rapid marine organism growth.

As a general rule, posts which solicit general advice can only elicit general replies. Please start a new thread if you have a specific question, and limit questions to one topic per thread. Threads with multiple topics are generally not particularly good sources of information and are usually cluttered and of less information value than a thread on a single topic.
