I have a pair of 2018 E-TEC G2 200 H.O. engines.
The port engine always runs about 20 to 30-degrees-F hotter than the starboard, at my normal cruise of 3100 to 3200 rpm.
Sometimes, the [port] engine will hold steady at 160-161 for a long time. Sometimes, it blows right past 160 and goes up to the high 170's, then stays steady there for a long time.
Sometimes I get a high temp warning after running around 160-degrees for a long time.
Sometimes I get a high temp warning after running in the high 170'-degree range for a while.
Today, I got a couple of them that happened after coming off plane, and idling for a minute or two, and the displayed temp was definitely around 140-degrees
Q1. what SHOULD the temp be when running at 3100 to 3200-RPM?
Q2. do the symptoms I've reported seem like a sticky thermostat?
Q3. Why would there be a high temp warning when one does not seem appropriate?

You should move your inquiry to the ETECOWNERSGROUP website. They have organized their forum by specific engine models.

Diagnosis of engine cooling system problems for E-TEC G2 engines is well outside the the normal range of discussion here.

Thank you, I'll do that. Sorry, I misinterpreted the name of this forum.
Interpreting the forum name "THE GAM."
The forum name, THE GAM, refers to a conversation between whale boats when at sea. The forum is for discussions of topics of interest to owners of Boston Whaler boats, most often the Boston Whaler boats themselves.briansmith wrote: I misinterpreted the name of this forum.
