Bought a 170 MONTAUK

Postby Firenailer » Fri Jul 08, 2022 2:54 pm

Hello--I found a clean, low hour 2016 170 MONTAUK with a Mercury 90-HP engine. I am an angler, and I boat out of Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

I’m looking forward to learning more about Boston Whaler 170 MONTAUK boats and their capabilities.

Hello. I wouldn't mind buying a 170 MONTAUK, myself. I think they are a great small boat. Welcome to Boston Whaler boat ownership.I presume since the 170 MONTAUK was a 2016 model that the Mercury engine was a FOURSTROKE model.

ASIDE: Back in the mid-1970's I used to work in Stamford, Connecticut, and I lived in Stratford, Connecticut, not far from Long Island Sound. I was only out fishing in Long Island Sound once, but on that day I caught more pounds of Bluefish than all the rest of the fish I have caught in my life.

Hey Jim,

I only moved to this end of the Sound a few years ago but boated out of the Western end for over 30 years. It’s a GREAT fishery and I’ve missed being out on the water. This 17 footer is quite a bit smaller than boats I’ve owned in the past but I think it’s going to be great for the inshore fishing here and in the CT River. (And yes - the Merc is a 4 Stroke).
