Current Prices for Older 13-footers

Postby Phil T » Fri May 27, 2022 7:05 pm

These days a 13-footer in decent condition is selling for $6,000 to $8,000.

To get a lower price, wait until Fall.

I remember the good old days in the 1980's. I could get the Sunday DETROIT NEWS, and in the Classified Ads there would always be a 13-foot Boston Whaler for sale for about $1,000 to $1,500. Craig's List has put the newspapers out of that business.

I almost bought an 11-footer for $500, but the boat had been modified to have a duck blind, and there were many empty holes from screw fasteners. I didn't know how easy it would have been to fix those holes, so I passed on that boat. Some time later, I bought a SPORT 15, and you know the rest of the story.

In 2017 I sold my 1970' 13-footer with an Evinrude 20-HP engine on a trailer for $2,500.

I then bought a nice 1987 MONTAUK 17 with a 1987 Mercury 70-HP engine for $3,500.

I am glad I was able to upgrade in 2017. Prices have gone up very high in the last few years.
