Where can a wooden stern seat for a SAKONNET 16 be purchased, other than from Specialty Marine?

For recommended vendors, please see the REFERENCE section article at

Recommended Vendors

Unfortunately, at this writing there is no recommended vendor for replacement wood components for older Boston Whaler boats. More information at

The aft bench seat of an old 16-footer is not a particularly complex arrangement of components. I do not think that joinery-level carpentry would be needed to duplicate the seat. I think almost any wood-butcher could make that seat. The most difficult part would be finding the proper fine marine woods to work with.

Bob Latourelle in Massachusetts is a masterful woodworker in my book, and he specializes in classic wood parts for Boston Whaler boats. He can be contacted at (978) 837-8808. I don't find a website for him, but he also can be found on Facebook and for my first order that is where I initially contacted him. He has responded quickly either via phone text messages or FB private messages.

What I had Bob make for me were teak louvered doors and frames and mahogany cooler cleats for my 1989 MONTAUK. Based on online photographs and testimonials from other customers, I'm confidant in asserting he is adept too at making larger parts/assemblies including the big consoles and seating setups from the 1960s era Boston Whaler boats.

I found this image of SAKONNET interior pieces made by Bob:

I previously posted of the fine craftsmanship of Bob Latourelle and it's about as close to Whaler as you can buy.

Bob buys his wood direct from the importer as many local lumberyards do as well. I met Bob and walked through his shop during covid since he's in my area and I've heard nothing but positive reviews on other Whaler forums and owners groups. He's a down to earth guy and has some of the same equipment that I have in my shop, so we had lots to talk about. Bob is a Boston University graduate who is retired from construction management and fills his spare time fabricating boat interiors for Whalers and other boats. He's made hundreds of Whaler interiors.

I have no affiliation or business connection to Bob, but can vouch for his craftsmanship.
