Polymer Sealer Advertised on Television

Postby gr8wood123 » Mon Sep 19, 2022 5:37 pm

I boughr a 1966 Eastport 16 boat from a friend’s widow. While my friend owned the boat he put a sealer on the gel coat on both the hull and cockpit. The sealer was a polymer, advertised on TV as “apply once and forget it.” I want to remove the polymer sealer that was advertised on television. I read an article suggesting the only way to remove the polymer sealer advertised on television was by using a heavy-duty floor [finish] stripper.

Q1: what is the name of the polymer sealer advertised on television?

Q2: what method and what product can remove the polymer sealer advertised on television from the 56-year old gel coat on mt 1966 Eastport 16?

The stuff is like iron; it can’t even be sanded off.

I have seen POLIGLOW Poli-Strip used to remove a finish on gel coat.. The same results nay be obtained from ZEP Heavy Duty Floor Wax Remover.

Sanding will get off the polymer sealer advertised on television. In the end sanding may be necessary to remove polymer sealer advertised on television.
