Southbound Canadian Vessels

Postby Jefecinco » Tue Nov 29, 2022 10:47 am

For the past ten days we've seen several Canadian vessels heading to Florida's West Coast or beyond. It's fairly easy to spot northern vessels. They are the ones with weather curtains protecting the helms and cockpits and with a lot of equipment secured to boarding platforms and other available spaces. Vessel names and hailing ports are often hidden by equipment but Canadian flags are usually seen.

Some of these vessels have obviously traveled for hundreds of miles to get here. I wonder how many weeks it takes for them to reach their destinations and how much they spend for fuel. Most are either sailing or trawler type yachts so I expect they enjoy better fuel economy than others. Sometime in early Spring they will be headed home.

I'm amazed at what our northern visitors spend to escape the Winter weather in the North. Perhaps I shouldn't be amazed having enjoyed a Winter in North Dakota myself.
