Hidden VIN on E-Z-LOADER Trailer

Postby msteinkampf » Wed Jan 11, 2023 3:43 pm

My 1990 E-Z-LOADER adjustable boat trailer has its vehicle identification number (VIN) decal prominently located on the driver side of the frame. While recently working on my trailer, I found a second VIN sticker that is hidden from view. I checked the information provided by the company on the E-Z-LOADER website at

https://store.ezloader.com/frequently-asked-questions

and on a recorded presentation on the E-Z-LOADER Facebook page at

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=662386688293616

The recorded demonstration shoes how to find the trailer VIN.

But neither the FAQ or the recorded demonstration mentions the concealed VIN’s location. I called the company for information, but no one was available to talk.

I think knowing about this hidden VIN might be useful to E-Z-LOADER trailer owners whose VIN has faded over time.

Q1: Should I post the location of this hidden VIN on this forum?

ASIDE: I saw criticism on another forum for revealing the hidden VIN location on a boat because that knowledge might hinder its recovery if stolen.

Post the information. The decal on our previous EZ Loader was deteriorating after ten years. When selling the trailer the information should be verifiable when compared with a bill of sale or registration document.

I found this VIN decal inside the passenger-side frame, just ahead of the taillight.

How easily can the VIN sticker be read at the inside-the-frame location?

It looks like you would be seeing it at a very sharp angle.

It’s more legible than what is suggested by the photo.

For those of us that have worked auto theft cases, a set of small mirrors, sandpaper, can of ether (cleans grease off really well) proved their worth. That hidden number was known to us as the confidential number, aka "CON" number, as opposed to the public or "P" number.

Fun days gone past.

Thank you [for mentioning where a second concealed VIN can be found on an E-Z-LOADER boat trailer].

I found [a concealed VIN] in the same place on my 1975 trailer.
