Source for c.1971 Ribside 21 Railings

Postby Tbirdsey » Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:40 pm

I’m restoring my 21 Ribside after damage from a storm several years ago and need two railing pieces. One for around the engine well and one for the teak console that also supports the canvas windscreen. Although CMI said they could (and would) replicate them over a year ago, I am still waiting.

Any other suggestions for a source of replacement railings would also be appreciated.

I’m located in upstate NY.

Do you have an order, with deposit with CMI?

What do they say the completion date is?

Yes, I ordered and sent a check for full amount.

Have not been able to get a completion date - just lots of reasons why they can’t get to it.

I’ve been patient given all the COVID related problems and not knowing of any other alternative, but now I am getting desperate to finish things before summer.

I would find a local fabricator and have the railings made. A person specializing in the fabrication of stainless steel boat tops should be able to do a fine job if provided with measured drawings or even photographs of the railings installed on another boat. Ask around a local marina to find a fabricator.

If work has not been started, CMI should not hesitate to refund your money.
