Hull Color

Postby jimh » Sat May 07, 2016 12:35 pm

This morning I happened to pull in to a parking space adjacent to a 2016 Lincoln MKS with a beautiful paint color. I immediately commented how the color of the car was akin to the Boston Whaler DESERT TAN color. When I got home, I went to the Lincoln website to find out the color name: it is PLATINUM DUNE. Quite interesting correlation: DESERT and DUNE. It was a great color for the car. The color stood out from the rest of the vehicles in the parking lot, mostly black, lots of gray--in all 57 shades--and a few white cars. PLATINUM DUNE has more saturated color than DESERT TAN, but I think they're in the same hue.

That a luxury car marque was using a rich off-white color was interesting, and perhaps sets or reflects a trend. Maybe Boston Whaler should revisit their legacy DESERT TAN color and give some consideration to making it an option on their hulls.
