Q1: For a 1965 16-foot hull, for proper weight distribution, and with an engine weight of 250-lbs, what is the recommended location for the following components in order to producing proper operation of the hull when on plane:

• seating (100-lbs)
• 9-gallon fuel tank, and
• battery.

Generally when a very moderate V-hull boat is operating at speeds that produce an on-plane condition the forward part of the hull is lifted out of the water. For this reason the typical distribution of fixed weight and moveable weight is kept out of the forward end of the hull.

Generally when on-plane the aft one-third to one-half of the hull remains submerged and provides the running surface. Weight associated with the engine is typically placed in this area.

The location of seats in 1965 Boston Whaler 16-foot hull avoids locating permanent seats forward of the center console, other than a cooler seat immediately forward of the center console.
