FS: 1989 OUTRAGE 22 $32,000 in Florida

Postby larimore » Thu Nov 30, 2023 10:03 am

For-sale: a 1989 OUTRAGE 22 with 1999 Yamaha 225-HP engine on a trailer for $32,000 in Florida.
CONTACT: Purchase@JoyceAndMichael.US

The 1989 OUTRAGE 22 boat has been trailered and covered in Florida all its life, and has been used maybe ten times a year since 2000. The rub rail was replaced in 2022. The teak and fiberglass are in good shape. The fuel tank has green zinc chromate coating, and it shows no signs of significant corrosion. The hull is in excellent condition, no soft spots and no significant dings. The boat has never been kept in the water, and it has always been covered. [This late model production 22-hull has the desirable full-width engine splash well design--Moderator]

The canvas was custom made using Sunbrella fabric and stainless steel frames by a fantastic canvas guy. The dodger area has two large cushions that span the width of the hull to make a large bed. The entire bed is easily removable; I leave the front cushion in place for a comfortable lounging area.

The 1999 Yamaha 225-HP two-stroke-power-cycle Saltwater Series Ox66 engine has extremely low hours, and it starts and runs perfectly. The engine has been started and fresh-water flushed monthly--more often than it gets used. The 1999 engine is the from the last model year Yamaha made a 225-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine. I bought his engine because of that.

The 1999 Yamaha 225-HP two-stroke-power-cycle Saltwater Series Ox66 engine was used in saltwater around Miami, Florida. There is minimal corrosion on the engine, and it is periodically misted with WD40 under the cowling.

Summer is my high-use time, but in 2023 I used the boat only about five times to travel to my usual spot 45 minutes each way. When not in Summer there was less use of the boat.

The float-on trailer was custom fabricated to fit the OUTRAGE 22, and it has a folding tongue. The trailer is in perfect working condition. The axles, tires and wheels were replaced in 2017 with premium axles, tires, and wheels. Tail lights are LED and are submersible. The trailer was generally used only to tow the boat three miles from my house to a launch ramp.

Details of Added Foredeck Cushion
Regarding the forward cockpit filler or "sun deck", it is actually part 1 of 2 parts that make a large bed. It is made of 3/4-inch plywood pressure treated and painted. With a 1/4-inch aluminum I-beam across the rear that hooks into rudder fittings at each end; rock solid. The bed is held down with a large turnbuckle and is easily removable. I had a 2-inch foam cushion made to fit. There are holes drilled thru the plywood to allow water to dry out. I have limited access to the anchor well with the deck in place. I keep my anchor against the stern quarter, under the gunwale.

A second part of the bed rests on half of the top of the I-beam and hooks into rudder fittings at the rear. Together these make a great bed with an enclosed canopy with no-see-um netting and a small fan for hot nights. Amazingly, its held up perfectly for 35 years.

I'm quite surprised, not a single inquiry on my listing-
I can only assume that the price is too high.

PRICE DROP - $17,999

The engine is the lowest-hour 25-year-old engine around. In 2024 I was so busy that I only used the boat once for a few hours of sightseeing. The engine is started on the trailer monthly. This is why I am selling it, I just don't use it as much.
