My father purchased this boat in 1994 and it has been loved by us ever since. I grew up running this boat. It is probably the most capable 17-foot boat I have ever been on. The 17 can get super shallow and run well in the rough stuff. It is very dry compared to the Montauk and other boats in its size class. The boat has been well cared for, and overall it's in great shape. But as would be expected, it's age is starting to show. I had no intention to ever sell this boat which is why I repowered it last season but I have an opportunity I can't pass up.
The 1993 OUTRAGE 17 boat is on its third outboard and the E-TEC re-power is a perfect match for this boat. The 2019 Evinrude E-TEC 115 H.O. is under warranty for 9 more years until April 2029. The run time is about 100-hours. The engine has been set up since new to run on XD100 oil.
The propeller is a 13.2 x 21-pitch. I have had the boat loaded with six people, three dogs, coolers, and gear going to the beach, and had acceleration from a standing start to spare.
Cruise speed is about 31-MPH at 4,300-RPM. I am not exactly sure on top speed. I don't run it there, but I have seen almost 50-MPH when alone light on fuel on a flat bay. I have never tried to replicate these results.
