APPRAISAL: 1987 13-footer

Appraise the value of 1987 13-footer with a [2005---ALWAYS USE FOUR DIGITS FOR YEAR] YAMAHA F25 engine, a trailer, and a SONAR. All are in good condition.

I appraise the value as follow:

SONAR = $50 to $2,500 depending on model and condition; a really nice SONAR could be worth more than anything else in the bundle

TRAILER = $400 to $1,000 depending on brand, model, year, condition, tires, brakes, coupler, and so on, but at a minimum the trailer must currently be road worthy, have a license plate, have all legal gear to get on the road, and not need any immediate repairs.

2005 YAMAHA F25 engine = $1,500 if in excellent condition, runs like new, and has suitable fuel tank, battery, and propeller

1987 13-footer = anywhere from $500 to $3,500, depending on the model, the presence off all original equipment, and condition.

RANGE of appraisal price is thus $2,450 to $8,500.

So in this market $9,000 would be a fair price.

A more realistic price would be $3,000.

I agree with Phil. If the boat is pristine, ie. perfect in every detail, perhaps another $2000.

I cannot confirm your appraisal of “a fair price” of $9,000 because I have no idea about the precise nature or condition of any of the four elements of the deal. See my appraisal posted above. Price depends on exactly what is in the bundle and exactly what condition all elements of the bundle are in.

If you are willing to pay $9,000 for a 35-year-old 13-foot boat, then jump on the deal. Boats like this used to sell for $900 when they were only 10-years-old.

In April 2022 I sold an absolutely perfect 2010 150 Super Sport with 60-HP and trailer for $20,000. A 1987 13-footer is not worth even half as much. Even assuming the 1987 13-footer is in perfect condition:
  • 35-years-old vs 12-years-old
  • 13 vs 15-feet
  • 25 vs 60-HP
