Appraisal: 2003 Montauk 17

Postby coachsmith » Mon May 16, 2022 6:51 pm

What is a fair price for a 2003 Montauk 17 with no electronics and no trolling motor, that needs to be re-powered, that has been stored for more than 10 years. The boat trailer is in good condition.

The hull only worth $3,000 to $4,000. The trailer is worth $500. If the engine was winterized, it may be worth $750 to $1,000 in trade-in.

Thank you Phil. I appreciate the help.

[Your appraisal] makes sense.

The seller originally asked $13,000 when he thought the engine was in working condition.

Your estimate without the power should be a good counter.

If this boat is a 2003, it should be a 170 MONTAUK. If the seller lets it go for $3,000 it would be the lowest selling price for a 170 MONTAUK in history.
