I am selling my restored 1985 Boston Whaler 18 Outrage classic. After many years of searching for a classic Outrage in good condition, I finally found this 1985 hull in 2019 that is still shinny (not chalky!) and has never been bottom painted with all the original wood and a rebuilt 1996 Mercury Optimax 135. I spent the next 2 years restoring it to its original condition with no expense spared. Once done, she was too nice to leave outside and I do not have a covered slip or lift, so I decided to let her go to a good home.
The boat looks great and is turnkey and ready to go. The hull was just detailed and looks amazing for its age, shinny and not chalky, as seen from the pictures. All the seats, cushions and canvas are new from 2020 and the wood was refinished with 10-12 coats of spar varnish (except for the gunwales, which are stripped and in good condition, but I haven’t had time to finish). The motor was rebuilt by the previous owner and runs perfectly having been just serviced by Harbin Marine in Lorton, VA in July of 2023. The boat comes with a 2008 Venture trailer that was rebuilt in 2021 with new breaks, tires, hubs, hitch, bunks, wiring, etc. Electronics consist of an ICOM IC-M400BB modular VHF radio with 3-foot antenna mounted at the console, a Lowrance Elite-4 DSI combo fish finder and plotter, dual batteries relocated to the console and a ProMariner 20 Amp 2-bank charger.
Below is a full list of equipment and improvements:
- New 2020 custom aluminum tank by Marshall’s Welding & Fabrication in Crisfield, MD with anti-corrosion coating; Tank is slightly shorter than factory and has new bilge pump at the stern to remove moisture and extend the life of the tank
- New Rule 1100 GPH 27SA Electronic Sensing main bilge pump and auxiliary 800 GPH bilge pump behind tank that feeds into main bilge; Pumps are wired direct to auxiliary battery via separate fuse box at stern and controlled with new factory-style Cole Hersee M531 three-way switch for on/off/auto operation at console
- Dual battery system inside console for better weight distribution with new wiring and dual battery switch mounted on custom panel inside rear console locker with access to cables/storage underneath
- New starting main battery installed in 2022; New dual-purpose auxiliary battery installed in 2023
- Dual USB and 12-Volt charger with voltmeter and switch inside rear console locker
- ProMariner ProSport HD20 Heavy Duty 20 Amp 2 Bank battery charger new in 2020
- New W.J. Mills Bimini top and forward shelter with hardware and storage boot installed in 2020; Both are still in excellent condition having been stored under cover when not in use; Bow shelter has only been pitched a couple of times
- W.J. Mills mooring cover purchased new in 2020 and used occasionally when boat is kept on slip overnight; It shows some wear and tear and light staining but has no major rips and can be easily cleaned/repaired to like new condition
- New factory-style reversible position seat (RPS) cushion and legs, rear bench, cooler cleats and cushion, console rod holders and backrests, and mahogany fire extinguisher box from Specialty Marine installed in 2020
- New 94-quart Igloo marine cooler with snaps for factory-style cushion also installed in 2020
- Original RPS backrest, console doors and console cleats refinished with up to 10-12 coats of spar varnish according recommended process (See https://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/whalerWood.html)
- New teak flag pole and hardware with U.S. yacht ensign flag stored inside when not in use
- Custom King Starboard console top with 3.68” and 2.25” Ram-mount ball adapters for electronics and cable pass through for chart plotter and iPad/iPhone charge cables
- New ICOM IC-M400BB modular VHF radio with 3-foot antenna installed in 2021
- Lowrance Elite-4 DSI combo fish finder and plotter with stern-mounted HD transducer
- Rebuilt 2008 Venture trailer with new brakes, tires, hubs, hitch, wiring and bunks installed in 2021 and new winch strap installed in 2023
- New factory-style bow lifting eye from Specialty Marine installed in 2023
- Hull detail including wax and compound completed in June 2023
- New alternator in 2021; New engine fuel cooler and service in 2023
