Graphic Size for a 17 Montauk

Postby typhoonfish » Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:05 am

I'm restoring a c.1965 MONTAUK 17. I am almost ready to apply graphics to the hull.

Q1: what is the proper length for the BOSTON WHAKER graphic on the hull

I want the factory specification.

I have seen graphics being sold on-line that vary in length from 10-inches long to 20-inches long.

ASIDE: this is my first post on this forum.

The Montauk was not introduced until 1973.

If you have a wooden center console, it could be a Nauset, Sakonnet or other 16' model.

There is one source for OEM decals.

Give Janis a call and she'll get you the appropriate decals for your model.

For help sourcing OEM parts or recommended vendors, see the article in the reference section at

You should also browse the REFERENCE section at

https://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/

And also read the FAQ at

https://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/FAQ/

The 16-foot 7-inch hull was referred to as a “16” until c.1976, when it became the “17” hull. The reason for the change was to conform all the odd-number hulls as being a round bottom boat and all the even-numbered hulls to be a moderate v-bottom boat. For more on the numbering scheme see
