Give me advice on how to fix leaking through-hull [brass drain] tubes on a 1989 REVENGE 22.

Q1: should I insert a 1-inch transom drain plug and outer ring in the opening, and use [3M5200 adhesive sealant to hold] it in place to create a permanent easy leak free fix?

You are not the first to ask for advice on how to repair brass through-hull drain tubes. That has been asked so often that an answer has been prepared in the Frequently Asked Questions article in the REFERENCE section. See the FAQ for advice on replacement of brass through-hull drain tubes.

I mentioned this resource of information to you in an earlier discussion in this topic.

Also:

Q1: which particular through-hull drain is leaking?

Q2: what is the component you call an “outer ring”?

Please post an illustration of the “outer ring” and link to a source for it.

What I plan to do is place a typical [transom] drain [threaded] plug and outer ring into the failed throuigh-thull located in the Revenge caddy cabin, and also at the drain in the fish well.

The "outer ring" is the brass circular component that goes into the through-hull opening. The outer ring is bedded in with three screws and 3M5200 adhesive sealant. Then the plug would be screwed tightly in place. The frame of the outer ring and 5200 sealant would would cover over the exposed bottom of the existing and leaking through-hull drain.

Later I will add a photograph of the "outer ring."

I am not clear on your plan.

Q3: are you planning to install the threaded drain plug into its "outer ring" fitting so the removable plug is on the exterior or interior of the hull?

The install would replicate the transom drain plug application. I am looking to seal off and make water tight the original compromised thru-hull fitting. I feel this would be easier for me to do- rather then trying to replace the original.--Andy

The [removable threaded drain] plug [for the cabin floor drain on the REVENGE 22] would be on the outside of the hull.
