1994 Outrage 17 Modifications

I've been angling from my 1994 OUTRAGE 17 boat for 26 years, since I got it in 2000. In addition to repairs for normal wear-and-tear damage, and usual maintenance, I have complete five major projects to modify the boat:
I will begin describing the modifications in that order, and continue over time to add more.
Adding Bow-mounted Trolling Motor
When I initially got the 1994 OUTRAGE 17 boat, it had a transom-mounted MinnKota trolling motor. I used it that way for several years, but I eventually got tired of manually steering and being locked to the transom. Also, I wanted access to some of the exciting new technology like SLOT-LOCK. The 1994 OUTRAGE 17 was not set up for a bow mount motor, so I had two main challenges:
Test Fits for Trolling Motor Mounting
I first had to determine the placement and orientation of the trolling motor. I purchased the motor first, then tried some various placements to see what would work best. I ended up deciding on an angle from port to starboard, which seemed to allow for easiest deployment while also allowing for bow anchor hatch access. In retrospect I would probably mount it along one of the gunwales, but hindsight is 20/20.
Designing Mounting Plate for Trolling Motor
After deciding on orientation, I grabbed the wood locating diagram that came with my boat from the previous owner; the wood diagram actually turned out to be wrong. I started planning out hull attachment.
My idea was to have a piece of aluminum fabricated that would provide plenty of strength when attached to the hull in many different spots, and then attach the trolling motor to the aluminum with a quick disconnect plate. To make a template I used a piece of cardboard, then took I took the template to a local fabricator to have it cut out of 3/8-inch thick sheet aluminum.
I had seen other mounting guides where they cut into the ridge of the bow gunwale area; I didn't want to do that, so I made sure the height of the aluminum plate would allow the trolling motor to ride just over the ridge of the boat's gunwale.
For improved appearance and to reduce the chance of a sharp edge of the plate cuttingI fishing lines or my boat cover, I had the aluminum plate edges beveled.
The MinnKota quick disconnect plate is attached to the aluminum with two through-bolts in the front, and in the rear the aluminum plate has tapped holed for two bolts
Attaching Mounting Plate to Hull
To attach the plate to the hull I planned on using stainless steel screws into any locations with wood, such as under the cleats, as well as making thickened epoxy cores under the laminate. (See "Repair of Loose Screw Fasteners, as described previously in the forum}. Basically, I drilled a small hole, then used an Allen wrench to core out the foam beneath the fiberglass, then injected epoxy into the vacant space created under the laminate, and when the resin was fully cured, installed screws into the epoxy.
I used SIX-10 epoxy for this portion. Additionally, I used 3M 5200 on the entire underside of the plate. After the test fit I countersunk the holes for my hardware, then completed the mount.
- added a bow trolling motor mount and custom LiFePO4 battery bank;
- replaced wood in the transom due to soggy wood around splashwell drains;
- added a new bow anchor locker hatch cover to permit installation of a bow casting seat (while preserving the original hatch}
- re-powered with a 2026 Suzuki DF115BTL (from 2004 Mercury 115),and
- replaced original bi-color combined sidelight lamp with LED type..
