MONTAUK: Custom Split Bow Rail

Postby BBQ BOY » Wed Jun 29, 2016 9:14 pm

I can have custom bow rails made from someone who makes a lot of stainless for Boston Whaler boats. I have a 1977 Montauk 17 with no bow rails. The only thing keeping me from them is some people have mentioned how hard it is to board the boat. The fabricator told me today that he can make me a set of split bow rails and even make them lower if I prefer. What are your opinions on this, considering my boat has been restored? Would it mess with the appearance of the boat too much? I think it definitely could be more practical.

A little different boat, but I have split bow rails on a Montauk 170 and think they are great. It makes getting over the bow off a trailer, beach, etc. very easy.
