I have 1984 Montauk that has a bait tank. I'm curious to see how others with a similar boat have added bait tanks to their Montauk boats. I have a Kodiak 14-gallon bait tank on mine. I'd consider going as high as 20-gallons if folks have good feedback. The current set-up works fine, but I am hoping for something that looks cleaner. Bait are sardines, anchovies and mackerels. I hope some of the West Coast guys will chime in with their set-up.

Are there any folks using fiberglass tanks? How were they plumbed?

Mark Wisch (Pacific Edge) is pricey but very high quality. You are obviously West Coast. West Coast bait is very sensitive. This is a good and aesthetic tank. They can match your interior (cockpit) paint/gellcoat color.

I have the 13 gallon oblong Kodiak bait tank. The 22 gallon would work fine, but I'm not sure it's quite needed based on the distance you can typically go and the amount of bait needed. Your 14 gallon should hold a half scoop perfectly. I do know a couple people that have the 22 gallon and are happy with it, though. I would also like to know if anyone had plumbed a bait tank since this is not recommended to go thru hull.

In my setup, I've made it so I can remove the bait tank when I am cruising or fresh water fishing. For me personally, I can't have a permanent bait tank as it would take too much prime deck real estate.

I saw a Montauk with a swim platform that had a bait tank mounted on it. If you have one and don't need to use it for swimming it might be worth a try. Would provide easy access for the water pickup? I would probably try to counterbalance the extra weight on that side with having a battery or some gear on the other side so it doesn't list too much to one side?
