I need advice on disassembling older dual OMC top-mount remote throttle and shift cables. They don’t have cotter pins. A pressed plastic washer looks as if it holds the cable to the shifter.

Q1: [Is a] special tool [necessary to remove the plastic washer]?

Q2: What type of cables and end fittings [are needed] for Honda 225?

They are clearly different than the OMC cables and end fittings.
