Baitwell for 1986 Montauk
Wanted to see if any of you guys had a good set up for a baitwell for a 17 whaler. Doesn't need to be huge but enough to keep shrimp alive. Maybe 13 gallons or so. My main question is pump location. Considered a thru hull in the bilge well but didn’t know if it being centered in front of the motor would interfere with the performance. Would consider transom mount too but didn’t know exactly where to put it to maximize the pumps performance with out drawing up air pockets, or again interfering with motor performance. Any thoughts? Would love to see some pics of anyone had any. Thanks

In doing a search on the archived forum I found this threads, one with photo links still active.

Boston Whaler did make a portable live well option for a few years. You can see a picture of one by searching 'Boston Whaler OEM Portable Live Well'. Had one once. Nice high quality unit. With 'Boston Whaler" logo on clear lid. Pretty rare.

I would set it up to draw water from the lower drain. When heading home unplug the pump and put the plug back in.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
