Q1: When putting a a mid-range to large outboard engine on a stand or cart should the engine be bolted to the cart?

Q2: Does weight alone hold them on a stand or cart?

Q3: is the engine secure without bolting?

The engine must be bolted to the engine stand or you risk potential harm to yourself and the motor.

I've used automotive engine stands adapted for outboards for years. It's nice being able to move it around and they also breakdown in several easy to store pieces with a wrench.

I use a single bolt through the stand and engine bracket or 4 lag screws through the bracket into the stand.
