[Inferred question:
What is a proper cleaner for the clear material used for the OEM cockpit curtains of a 2011 255 CONQUEST?]

BACK STORY: On my 2011 255 CONQUEST the [cockpit canvas] curtains are original and look like they were never used. I was told to never get boat soap on the clear section [of the cockpit canvas] because [the boat soap] will cloud [the clear section] and [seeing through the clear will become] difficult I I also have a vinyl cleaner that I use, but not every time I use the boat.

You shouldn’t use any product with ammonia in it, such as WINDEX, [to clean the clear vinyl windows in boat canvas].

I’ve always used PLEXUS. PLEXUS works really well and won’t harm the [clear window section of the boat canvas].

Does "PLEXUS" mean PLEXUS–Plastic Cleaner Protectant & Polish, as sold, for example, at WEST MARINE:

Re advice about the effect of "boat soap" on clear vinyl boat canvas windows: I don't think "boat soap" defines any particular soap or detergent product. There are many soaps or detergents sold for the purpose of washing a boat. The advice you received to not use "boat soap" seems vague and nonspecific.

The most reasonable inference regarding the term "boat soap" is perhaps to understand "boat soap" to mean a cleaner that will not strip off wax, and has good properties for wetting and drying without a residue.

The product 3M Multi-purpose Boat Soap data sheet mentions use of the product on windows of glass or plastic. Compare at

This is the product. I have used it for many years on boat isinglass, the windshields on my Whalers ad motorcycle windshields and helmet visors.

It is pricey, but it works.
