[My 2014 Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE engine] stopped suddenly with [a diagnostic] message [that said] something like "Voltage Problem."

[Now when the ignition switch is move to RUN from OFF with the battery switch set to] A, or to B, or to BOTH, nothing turns on.

I am certain that both battery A and B are good.

Before the breakdown, the batteries were NOT charging in neutral but were charging in gear with typical increase in voltage upon more power and this as observed on a Voltmeter.

[Give] advice [on the cause].

To assess electrical problems you must have a reliable and accurate voltmeter, and possess knowledge on how to measure electrical voltages. If you have both those, then:

Remove the engine cowling.

Using a reliable voltmeter, measure the voltage at the engine on the terminal post to which the primary positive conductor from the battery switch is connected.

Report the voltage read on the voltmeter

I don't understand how you could have read the diagnostic message if after this event there was no electrical power being provided to any device on the boat, as your narrative describes.

How were you able to read the diagnostic message if nothing was able to operate from battery power?
