Q1: what is the stock fuel tank capacity for a 1994 OUTRAGE 17?
My boat guy thinks the stock fuel tank capacity is 35-gallons.
To me [the fuel tank capacity of a 1994 OUTRAGE 17] seems like it may be more [than 35-gallons] based on [the volume of fuel] I added to the fuel tank, and on the reading of tank level on a new gauge.
NEW TOPIC
Q2: what is done with the two transom drains and scuppers?
Q3: are regular plugs commonly used?
Q4: are snorkle ball-stop plugs popular?
My guys installed the snorkle ball stop plugs. They seem to leak too much for my taste.
[A pump] activated when I first got on board [1994 OUTRAGE 17]. [A pump activated] then again at the dock after just an hour putting around.
Give me any thoughts and opinions.
1994 Outrage 17 Fuel Tank Capacity
Re: 1994 Outrage 17 Fuel Tank Capacity
I have owned two Outrage 17 boats; one when I lived in Maine.
The fuel tank capacity is 32 gallons. Under the middle inspection cover you should be able to see a aluminum colored rectangular sticker with the specificationss.
The mechanical sender can be found at https://liquidlevels.net/
[Fuel tank level] gauges are not very reliable. Each boat has its own personality. In my 1991 [OUTRAGE 17 the fuel tank level idicator] stayed on Full forever then dropped like a rock.
Q5: Are you using a electronic fuel management system?
As for drain tubes, I run with the splash well drains open, and with the deck drains and the sump (straight down) drain plugged. Left open, the floor drains will allow too much water in the boat--a concern.
I have a 750-gallon/minute Rule pump in my 1992 [OUTRAGE 17]. My 1991 [OUTRAGE 17] had a 500-gallon/minute pump and that was pathetic.
Check the gap between the forward splash well wall and the underside of the cap lip. This should be sealed if open.

RULE pump rating
I cannot imagine that a 750-gallon-per-minute pump could be used in a 17-foot boat. I am sure Phil meant 750-GPH.
